Christmas Spirit. How do you get yours?

Well this week is over and I can finally shift gears and start to think of the holidays. Each day this week was packed with appointments so it hasn't felt like Christmas yet. So I am on a mission to get into the holiday spirit in a matter of a week or so. I am hoping to maybe do a little baking, to do something charitable and oh yes shopping. I have not bought a single thing.I do have a lovely mother who put up my Christmas tree a couple of weeks ago for me. I would love to hear what special things everyone is doing to get into the holiday spirit? Any recipes to share or Christmas cd's that you can share? I really want to do something memorable this year as last year I was in the hospital with Wysdom. Well that's not totally true. I did sneak out for a couple of hours on Christmas night. So please share!!!! I can't wait to read about your Christmas cheer.

As for the rest of the updates:
This Thursday we went for a hearing test. I think that getting things put in Wysdom's ears is his least favorite thing. In the time that I parked the car and got to the room where he was with my husband, Wysdom had a runny nose full of snot, tears streaking down his face and he was trying to catch his breath. Luckily the technician got a few readings and decided that he really doesn't like the test. So she decided to stop for now as we know he is hearing better after the tubes were put in his ears. Friday we had an appointment scheduled about an hour a way for his plastics appointment for his forehead.(For those of you new to my blog-see post on plastic surgeon for more info as to why we are going to see one. Sorry my link is not working, something about pop ups.) Anyways we decided to cancel due to the weather, lack of sleep and general tiredness this week.

Very cute pic at the top of your blog! I know what you mean about being overwhelmed with all the stuff you have to do at Christmas time. Like you I want this to be a very special Christmas too since our Liliana was in the hospital last Christmas as well recovering from her third OHS and a fungal infection. One thing we started over here is we have this little elf that showed up at our house last weekend and he sits in different spots in the house each day. He is here to check on our 4 year old Gwynny and report back to Santa each night about how she is behaving. He is actually a little stuffed elf and let me tell you our daughter is fasinated by him. She truly believes he is real. That is one fun thing we are doing to make the holidays special. Of course, we are definitely emphasizing the importance of the birth of baby Jesus. Gwyneth loves to hear the story and she even has her own nativity set at Grandma and Grandpa's house to play with. Well, sorry for the long post. Have a great weekend! God Bless!

I've been trying to keep the Christmas spirits running high in our house, even if I am preoccupied with baby stuff. If nothing else you can "fake it 'til you make it".

What I found works best is remembering the little things. For my kids its a favorite CD (Amy Grant) and all the Christmas movies. I've added them to our Netflix account and we watch a new one each weekend. They made paper chains to count down to Christmas and enjoy going to church each Sunday. I have to admit, I don't go, my mom takes them. I'm too pg to be chasing Goldie around.LOL!

Your Idea of Christmas music playing in Kristen's room is great. I think I will have my husband bring some with him when he comes today. Glad Wysdom is hearing better.

hope you are getting some good rest! I love the "a very special Christmas" cds, I think we have them all. Noah loves to hear and sing Christmas music. ENT used to be the appt. I hated most but as Noah got older it got better.

I'm looking forward to reading what everyone suggests. As for myself...I can't get in the spirit this year. Christmas is normally my most favorite holiday. I haven't even put up a tree...and to be honest...I probably won't. It's not the putting up...it's the taking down.

I told my hubby that I needed to do something to get in the Christmas spirit. I think we are going to go for a ride in a little while and look at Christmas lights while playing some nice Christmas music. I'll let you know if it works.

BTW...I love, love, love the new picture of Wysdom on your header!!!! What a cutie-patootie!!!

I just got caught up--you guys have been busy! I hope you all are feeling better and that you have a break from all the various doctors/specialists. And way to go Wysdom on sitting!! I love how he proved that therapist wrong!

For me, getting in the Christmas spirit is all about the music--my favorites are Bing Crosby, Manheim (sp?) Steamroller, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. (Eclectic, I know!) Somehow just putting on Christmas music and plugging in the lights on the tree while I'm doing something (whether Christmas related or not) puts me in the christmas spirit.

I'm excited to hear what you decide to do!

Our favorite thing to do is just drive around and look at Christmas lights. Try to find houses with a lo of lights, the boys love it!

awesome news about Wysdom sitting on his own!!! Yeah!!! Glad the appts seem to be going well - he looks great without the ng tube :) Whitney has constipation issues too - our genetics dr. told us to add about 1/4 capful of miralax to her nighttime bottle + I also add some olive oil to what she drinks throughout the day... this seems to have helped.
As for Christmas spirit music -- I LOVE Straight No Chaser, they are an acapella group from Indiana University (they started the group while I was a student there and they were unbelievably talented!!!) Last year someone posted a video of them singing a christmas song on You Tube and now they have a contract with Atlantic Records. you can download their Christmas cd from last year and their new one from this year on itunes or it is cheaper from their website --- just google straight no chaser. :) Hope you guys have a good week!!!!!
